Bangaram Island Resort, Lakshadweep (S)
This resort was designed to keep the environmental impact to
a minimum and retain the natural beauty of the island.
Electricity is supplied by solar panels and small
generators. There are no televisions, no air-conditioning,
no telephone or fax and no newspapers. This really is the
place to get away from it all. The accommodation is in
simple beach huts each with a veranda. The en suite shower
room provides cold water only. Accommodation is offered on a
full board basis and beach barbecues are regularly organised.
It should be noted that all provisions (other than the fish
and coconuts) must be brought over from the mainland so
choices may be limited.
Water sports are the main activities. If you are a SCUBA
diver the 10kg weight limit on the flight will probably mean
that you will have to hire equipment from the dive centre.
If you are looking for luxury you will be disappointed. The
ethos of this resort is “less is more”. However, if you want
to escape the world, this is definitely the place to do it. |
