Bay Island (as it is often called) has spacious public areas
and the rooms have balconies with views over the harbour
below. Facilities include a sea water swimming pool, gardens
and a good quality restaurant. It is often necessary to have
at least one night in Port Blair because the flights and
ferries do not always connect. |

Barefoot Resort, Havelock Island (M)
Havelock Island, reached by ferry from Port Blair, is
perhaps one of India’s best kep secrets with beaches thought
to be the best in Asia (TIME magazine). The resort used to
be called Jungle Resort, and is considered to be the best
hotel on this beautiful island. Accommodation is in a few
delightful bamboo thatched cottages constructed using local
materials. All rooms are spacious and comfortable, some have
air-conditioning. The restaurant offers delicious vegetarian
dishes and seafood (both Indian and Continental). The resort
has a dive centre (PADI affiliated and operated by European
dive instructors) and good quality equipment is available
for hire.
