TEMPLES AND BACKWATER TOUR
This tour starts in Chennai and takes you through many of the wonderful
temple towns of Tamil Nadu, over the Western Ghats at Periyar Wildlife
Sanctuary, down to the backwaters of Kerala and finishes in the harbour city of
Cochin. We are pleased to offer it in two price ranges. Detailed itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Chennai. Half-day city tour. One night in Chennai.
Day 2
Transfer to Mahabalipuram visiting Kanchipuram en route. Two nights in
Mahabalipuram.
Day 3
Visit to Arjuna’s Penance and the Shore Temple.
Day 4
Transfer to Pondicherry. One night in Pondicherry.
Day 5
Transfer to Tanjore visiting Chidambaram, Dharasuram and Kumbakonam en route.
Two nights in Tanjore.
Day 6
Explore Tanjore, old capital of the Chola kings.
Day 7
Transfer to Madurai visiting Trichy en route. Two nights in Madurai.
Day 8
Day spent visiting Madurai and the Sri Meenakshi Temple.
Day 9
Transfer to Thekkady (Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary). Two nights in Thekkady.
Day 10
Short guided trek into the jungle followed by plantation visit.
Day 11
Transfer to Alleppey. Board Houseboat and cruise backwaters. One night on a
houseboat.
Day 12
Transfer to Cochin. Evening – attend Kathakali performance. Three nights in
Cochin.
Day 13
Half day guided city tour. Evening – sunset harbour cruise.
Day 14
At leisure in Cochin.
Day 15
Fly home from Cochin Airport.

Go directly from the airport to Mahabalipuram and
have three nights there.
Overnight at Tiruchirapalli (Trichy) giving you more
time to visit the places of interest there.
Have an extra night at Pondicherry or on the
houseboat.

Kerala beach resort instead of Cochin.

THE TAMIL TOUR
This interesting tour starts and finishes in Chennai and allows plenty of
time to visit a range of temple towns, hill stations and beaches in Tamil
Nadu as well as Mysore and a Wildlife Sanctuary in southern Karnataka.

Day 1
Arrive Chennai and transfer to city hotel. Two nights in Chennai.
Day 2
Half day guided city tour.
Day 3
Train to Mysore. Visit to Chamundi Hill and Mysore Palace. Two nights in
Mysore.
Day 4
Visit Mysore’s colourful vegetable market, Somnathpur and Srirangapatnam.
Day 5
Transfer to Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary. Jeep safari. One night at Nagarhole.
Day 6
Morning Jeep safari followed by transfer to Coonoor. Two nights in Coonoor.
Day 7
Take the toy train to Ooty and visit a tribal village.
Day 8
Transfer to Trichy. One night in Trichy.
Day 9
Visit to Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple and Rock Fort Temple before transferring
to Tanjore. Two nights in Tanjore.
Day 10
Visit to Tanjore’s Chola Temple (World Heritage Site).
Day 11
Transfer to Pondicherry visiting Kumbakonam, Dharasuram and Chidambaram en
route. One night in Pondicherry.
Day 12
Transfer to Mahabalipuram. Three nights in Mahabalipuram.
Day 13
In Mahabalipuram - at leisure.
Day 14
In Mahabalipuram - at leisure.

Fly home from Chennai Airport.
