Taj West End, Bangalore (L, H)
A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, this is one of
Bangalore’s top hotels. The building dates back to 1887 and
is set in 20 acres of landscaped gardens. It is 10km from
the city centre. The rooms are elegantly appointed and the
range of facilities is as you would expect from a hotel of
this category. |

Villa Pottipati, Bangalore (M, H)
A delightful home converted to a small, characterful hotel.
The individual rooms are furnished with Indian antiques and
meals are taken in the garden (or undercover if it’s
raining). A delightfully restful place to stay in a secluded
corner of this bustling city. |

Shreyas, near Bangalore (T, B)
This ‘retreat’ is about 35km from the centre of Bangalore
and convenient for the airport. The extremely comfortable
accommodation combines traditional and contemporary
architecture with modern facilities. At Shreyas (which means
‘excellence’ in Sanskrit) it is hoped that you will enjoy a
holiday of self discovery through Yoga. You can however
simply enjoy the ambience of Shreyas without participating
in Yoga. The food (both Indian and Western) is vegetarian
and much of it comes from their own gardens (which visitors
can work in if they wish). Guests are asked to refrain from
alcohol and smoking. Facilities include a swimming pool,
lounge, steam rooms, massage centre, library/home theatre as
well, of course, as the Yoga hall. |
