Laguna Anjuna, Anjuna (S)
A resort with a rural ambience and friendly staff. The
cottage rooms, each one different, are built in the style of
the Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. The resort is 700m
back from the beach and overlooks a large paddy field. It
has an attractive swimming pool, which is kept clean by
ionization and filtration and minimal chlorine, and offers a
range of activities from billiards to bird watching.

This resort is almost 2km away from the nearest beach at
Baga but is in a quiet and peaceful area on the banks of the
Baga River and adjacent to paddy fields. It is a hotel
popular with bird watchers because you don’t even have to
leave the grounds for sightings. Facilities include two
swimming pools, restaurant, bar, gym, beauty parlour and
tennis court. |

Fort Tiracol, North Goa (M, H, B)
A delightful boutique hotel with just five rooms and two
suites (all with view of the sea). The original features of
the Portuguese building have been retained but the finish is
modern. This hotel is in the far north of Goa, well away
from the main tourist areas. The journey from the airport
(through picturesque Goan villages) takes about 1 hour 40
minutes. There is no air-conditioning or swimming pool at
this hotel and the restaurant is open-air.
